Sunfish Nusa Penida is a beach club project located on the island of Nusa Penida, Bali. The design responds to the mola-mola, an ocean sunfish that has become one of the island’s marine icons, and translates its form into a bamboo architectural expression. Set close to the beach, the project uses a semi-open interior to frame the movement of air, light, and visitors within a relaxed tropical setting. Its spatial language remains closely connected to the sea, through the use of underwater biota symbols, organic lines, and flowing rhythms inspired by ocean waves. More than a leisure destination, the project becomes an architectural reading of Nusa Penida’s coastal identity. Sunfish Nusa Penida was developed in collaboration with Navetta Studio, led by Adhi Nugraha, an academic and practitioner from FSRD ITB.
