MELATI DI BATAS TAPAL

Melati di Tapal Batas is a poster design project for a short film by Magung Budiman that raises the issue of sexual harassment against women in Makassar. The visual approach was developed to hold tension between vulnerability and resistance. A narrow corridor-like composition becomes a metaphor for pressure, confinement, and the limited space often imposed on women’s bodies and voices. The strong contrast between burnt orange and deep blue builds an atmosphere that feels uneasy, intimate, and confrontational at once. Through distorted space, a distant female silhouette, and expressive typography, the poster frames the body as a contested territory while affirming agency through the phrase “My Body My Authority.” More than a promotional image, the poster functions as a visual statement—one that invites viewers to confront violence, silence, and the urgency of reclaiming bodily autonomy.
