SD Islam Annajah is a façade and landscape renovation project for an Islamic elementary school in Petukangan Selatan, Jakarta. Owned by Yayasan Annajah Jakarta, the project reintroduces the presence of nature into an urban school environment. The existing building is softened through layers of greenery, shaded corridors, vertical vegetation, and renewed architectural details that bring a calmer rhythm to the daily movement of students. The façade also carries a mengkudu motif as a response to Betawi cultural identity, applied as a second skin on the structural columns to create a rhythm that reflects both Islamic and local cultural values. In a dense city context, the landscape is not treated as decoration, but as a quiet part of the learning experience. Plants, shade, air, and filtered light become subtle elements that accompany children as they study, play, and grow. Through this intervention, the school becomes more than a place for formal education. It becomes a living environment where nature and culture gently shape memory, attention, and character.
